Boulder, Colorado Elopement With Guests

This elopement day was such a perfect example of keeping it simple so that you can splurge on things that really matter to you. Jaycee and Kevin hosted less than 15 of their family members for an intimate wedding ceremony in Boulder, Colorado followed by a five star dinner at The Flagstaff House Restaurant.

These two have a long history together, and their love story is deep and ongoing. Going into their wedding day, they viewed it as a rite of passage that bookended one chapter of their life and began a new one. They wanted to balance both bougie and rustic by being immersed in nature while looking their best and ending with a fine dining experience for themselves their family members in attendance. The wedding experience they created was an elevated elopement in the breathtaking mountains of Boulder, Colorado. Jaycee and Kevin structured their day so they could spend as much time with each other and their families.

They got ready and did their first look at The Colorado Chautauqua. This National Historic Landmark is located at the foot of the Boulder Flatirons Mountains. It features rentable cottages and lodges, a dining hall with farm-to-table cuisine, a general store and cafe. Just steps from the door is access to 40 miles of pristine hiking trails. One of which, Jaycee and Kevin chose for their first look and exchange of private vows. We were lucky enough to witness some wildflowers in full bloom on their day of their elopement. The Chautauqua can also host weddings with 8 different indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. A bonus is that this property is dog friendly! If you’d like to include your dog in your wedding day, they have several pet-friendly accomodations. Kevin and Jaycee chose a few of the cottages to stay for the night, and they made a perfect, light-filled location for getting ready with their families.

Ceremony at the Halfway House in Boulder

The Halfway House is a super affordable wedding venue owned by the City of Boulder. Located halfway up Flagstaff Mountain (hence the “halfway” name), it is an enclosed stone building with a flagstone patio that overlooks the city of Boulder and the Flatirons. It is reservable through the city’s website on a first come first serve basis, and has a maximum capacity of 49 people. There is indoor seating for up to 40. It features a small parking lot for 8 cars and is relatively accessible with a dirt path leading to the venue. The Halfway House can be rented in one hour blocks for $50 or $100 (Boulder resident and non-resident pricing respectively). This stunning and simple Boulder wedding venue is perfect for elopements with guests.

After some heartfelt and emotional vows with the Boulder Valley as their backdrop, Jaycee and Kevin made their way across the street for a five-star fine dining experience at The Flagstaff House. This one-of-a-kind restaurant located on Flagstaff Mountain features beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and award winning food and wine. The restaurant has reservable options for weddings and celebrations from 6-150 people. Jaycee and Kevin hosted their guests on a private terrace and dining room flooded with natural light and mountain air for a five course meal featuring local ingredients and world-renowned wine. The evening passed casually and joyfully with heartfelt toasts and great conversation between family. We snuck out around sunset for them to have a moment to take in the breathtaking mountain sunset and have some quiet time taking a few photos before they concluded their evening.

Boulder Elopement Video

The couple wanted to make sure that their elopement day was captured on both photo and video so that they could look back and share it for years to come. Their personal vows were so special and meaningful, and having those recorded on video is something that is irreplaceable. Take a peek at their full Colorado elopement film below.

This was such a unique and meaningful way to celebrate their love and relationship. Every detail was intentional, and their elopement day unfolded exactly as it was meant to. There was so much space for quiet so they could take in the moment and truly appreciate everything that was important to them. We would not change a single thing. 10/10. No notes!
